FIREFIGHTERS

The Firefighter is a certified and skilled professional who responds to emergency situations. Firefighters respond to, but not limited to fire, rescue, and emergency medical service call types. Firefighters are required to participate in training programs and obtain certifications outlined by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), and Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH).  Firefighters are responsible for rapid and effective life/property saving interventions under extreme conditions, frequently involving immediately dangerous to life and health atmospheres (IDLH). Firefighters will follow orders under the direction of company officers. The work also includes routine duties such as maintaining facilities, equipment, continuing education or training, and public relation events. JR. FIREFIGHTERS

The Junior Firefighter is an individual between the ages of 14-17 who is interested in a future career or volunteer position in emergency services. The Blandon Fire Company has established a Junior Firefighter program who's mission aims to produce a quality member of the fire service and of society. Juniors are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is becoming of a competent, dependable, and professional firefighter in our community. Juniors will learn roles and responsibilities within the fire company while supervised and engage in emergency response, training, routine duties, and public relation events. The Blandon Fire Company abides by all Child labor laws. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has established “run times” for Jr firefighters. Minors between the ages of 14-17 are not permitted in any fire company function between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:00am. Jr members are not permitted to leave school to answer an alarm and must maintain a C average (70% or higher.) FIRE POLICE

Fire Police are members of the fire company who respond to and assist with emergency operations. Fire Police typical provide traffic control, but also assist with crowd control, incident preservation and public relation events. Fire Police are required to participate in training programs and obtain certifications outlined by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Fire Police officers are approved by the Maidencreek Township Commissioners and are sworn in by the local magistrate. FIRE CORPS SUPPORT PERSONNEL

Fire Corps Support Personnel are fire company members who assist with non-emergent support tasks. Support Personnel assist with tasks such as public relation events, fire prevention/public education, pastoral assistance, photography, and recruitment. Support Personnel may also assist with large scale emergency's where logistics, finances, and human resources may be integrated. Support personnel may also assist firefighters with recovery services after large incidents such as rehabilitation. All members of the Blandon Fire Company are required to pass a criminal background check, DMV record check, child abuse clearance, and interview prior to approved membership. All applications will be reviewed by the Fire Chief and be brought to the board in monthly general meetings. The board shall approve or deny the request for membership. Upon review, the Fire Chief will notify the applicant of results.
