2nd Alarm Christmas Eve

Just after 1500hrs on Christmas Eve 2023, Engine 12 was dispatched by Berks County Department of Emergency Service to the 5600 block of Stoudts Ferry Bridge Rd in Muhlenberg Township for a structure fire. Ladder and Engine 66 arrived on scene to find a single story single family dwelling well involved with numerous exposed outbuildings and vehicles well or fully involved. Ladder 66 immediately requested a 2nd Alarm due to reports of possible victim entrapment, rapid fire development with exposures, hoarding conditions, and no positive water supply. Engine 12 arrived on scene as 3rd due Engine and completed a split lay from the river to the scene along with Engine 13. Engine 12’s crew was immediately assigned primary suppression group on the C “Charlie” side of the structure and made a transitional attack utilizing 2 handlines with Reading Fire Department Ladder 1, Engine 7, and Township of Spring Fire Rescue, Rescue Engine 85. Crews conducted a primary search proving negative of victims, extinguished the fire, and overhauled the property for approximately 8 hours. Ladder 12 remained staffed a Station 12 and handled additional incidents while Engine 12’s crew remained on scene. Engine 12 would later be released from the scene around 2300hrs Christmas Eve. #blandonfire
